The newly created Garjiya Jeep Safari Zone of Jim Corbett National Park is one of the popular zones. Large parts of the Bijrani zone are known as Garjiya zone. Whose area is 50 square kilometers, in which there is an opportunity to see many types of animals, Garjiya Zone, rich in different types of flora and wild animal species, has a lot of identity in the higher areas of Jim Corbett National Park (Corbett Tiger Reserve).
The presence of grassland equipped with savanna grass in Jim Corbett Garjiya Safari Zone gives Garjiya zone a different identity from many zones of Jim Corbett National Park.
One can spot several types of Deers when in the zone this includes Spotted Deer and others like Para (Axis pornicus), The Sambar (Cervus unicolor), Kakkar (Muntiacus muntjak) which is also called the barking deer due to the hoarse sound it makes resembling the bark of a Dog.
It is one of the best places on earth to spot a tiger and wild elephants.
This area is also bird watchers dream destination. The surrounding forests and the large water body supports a wide diversity of birds in the area.
The chances of spotting a sloth bear are very high in this section of forest. They are attracted by both termites and the sweet nectar of Mahua flowers. The bears have been recorded in intoxicated state when the Mahua ferments in their digestive system.
Garjiya Safari zone of Jim Corbett National Park remains open for tourists from 15th October to 30th June.
Corbett Tiger Reserve remains closed during the monsoons as many streams cross the road leading to Garjiya zone and it gets impossible to cross the streams due to high water levels and pressures. Garjiya Safari Ecotourism Zones remains closed for night halts and Day Visit from 01st July to 01st Oct
